Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 September 2026

This privacy policy explains how Ask Expert collects, uses and protects personal information when you use askexpertgaming.com, request the KSP Science Checklist, or join the Ask Expert mailing list.

Who we are

Ask Expert is the trading name used for this website. For UK data protection purposes, the data controller is Chris King, trading as Ask Expert.

If you have any privacy questions or want to exercise your data protection rights, contact us at hello@askexpertgaming.com.

Information we collect

We only collect information that is relevant to operating the website and providing the Ask Expert mailing list. This may include:

  • your first name and email address when you request the KSP Science Checklist or subscribe;
  • your subscription status and your choices to subscribe or unsubscribe;
  • basic technical and security information, such as IP address, browser/device information and server logs, where needed to operate and protect the website; and
  • email delivery and engagement information where this is provided by our email service and enabled in our account.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • send you the KSP Science Checklist you requested;
  • send occasional Ask Expert tips, resources and related email updates;
  • manage subscriptions and honour unsubscribe requests;
  • respond to messages or privacy requests;
  • protect the website and forms from spam, bots, fraud and abuse; and
  • maintain, troubleshoot and secure the website and email systems.

Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for using personal information.

For mailing-list emails, including delivery of the checklist and occasional Ask Expert tips and resources, we rely on your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

For website administration, security, spam prevention and fraud prevention, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the website, provided those interests do not override your rights and freedoms.

We may also process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Email marketing and unsubscribing

When you submit the KSP Science Checklist form, the page explains that you will receive the checklist plus occasional tips and resources from Ask Expert.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option. You can unsubscribe at any time. We may keep a minimal suppression record after you unsubscribe so that we can respect your choice and avoid sending further marketing emails to that address.

Service providers

We use trusted service providers to help operate the website and mailing list. They may process personal information on our behalf only where needed to provide their services.

  • MailerLite – mailing-list management, automated emails, campaign delivery and unsubscribe handling.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile – protects website forms from automated abuse by processing technical browser and device signals needed to distinguish legitimate visitors from bots. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not receive the contents of form fields.
  • Website and email hosting providers – hosting, server operation, backups and delivery of website-generated administrative email.

We do not sell your personal information.

International data transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we expect the relevant provider to use appropriate safeguards required by applicable data protection law, such as adequacy arrangements or approved contractual protections.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies or similar technical storage where necessary for website operation, security and administration. We do not currently use advertising cookies on the Ask Expert landing page.

If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or similar technologies in future, we will update our privacy/cookie information and obtain consent where required.

How long we keep your information

We keep mailing-list details while you remain subscribed and for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service. If you unsubscribe, we may retain a minimal record of that choice so that we can honour it.

Form entries, technical logs and security information are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for administration, security, troubleshooting or legal purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • object to certain uses of your information;
  • receive certain information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

To make a request, email hello@askexpertgaming.com.
